Tips for Aspiring Bloggers

17

This essay answers “How can I start a blog?” and provides detailed instructions for establishing your blog.WordPress is the most popular content management system (CMS) for blogs, and it has many useful plugins that can be downloaded for free or for a small fee to expand the capabilities of the blog site. Bluehost is the web host I suggest to all bloggers since they offer free SSL for the life of your WordPress website and have excellent customer service.

Bluehost’s WordPress blog instructions are outlined below.

#1: Location and Name Servers

While Bluehost has the potential to be the most excellent hosting service for a WordPress blog, there are many alternative hosting providers to choose from. After the first year, I bought a three-year shared hosting plan with a free domain name renewal.

When you join up or log in, you can choose among available hosting plans and pay for the one that best fits your needs. You can get the domain name through Bluehost or any other service. Your Bluehost login details have been sent to you. Once you’ve signed in, a screen will load where you may manage your WordPress blog.

#2.Theme

Although I could have chosen any of the thousands of free WordPress themes, I’ve utilized the Ocean WP theme. The theme is free, and any necessary plugins can be added.

To access the WordPress admin area, navigate to domain/wp-admin. You can change your account’s overall look by browsing the available themes and widgets in the dashboard.

Once you’ve found this section, enter the theme’s name in the search box and install and activate it.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is the third most popular encryption protocol.

SSL creates an encrypted connection between the web server and the client browser. When using WordPress, Bluehost provides a free SSL certificate for all sites.Log in your Bluehost account; activate an SSL certificate for your WordPress blog, or contact Bluehost’s support team and ask them to do it.

In Bluehost, click “Home” > “My Site” > “Manage Site.”

Get into the settings and turn on SSL.

4. Email Settings and the Feedback Form

Once you’ve finished the above steps, you can set up a webmail service for your domain. Use e.g.Ashif@tekengine.org as a possible email address for the tekengine.org domain.

Open Bluehost’s Email menu, choose Email, then Add Email Account. You can establish an account with any email address and storage limit.

Go to webmail using the newly created email address and password (the same one used to access your Bluehost account).

#5.Plugins

For my WordPress blog hosted by Bluehost, I use the following plugins.

Enhanced Comment Checker: A Validation Plugin For Comments

The Contact Form 7 is a user-friendly and adaptable communication tool.

This plugin will create an XML Image Sitemap for your WordPress blog, which can then be submitted to Google.

If you have a WordPress blog, you can use this plugin to create an XML Video Sitemap for Google.

myStickymenu is a straightforward implementation of a sticky (always visible) menu bar.

WordPress Slider Plugin, Responsive Posts Carousel

Yoast SEO is a comprehensive WordPress SEO plugin that analyzes the content of individual pages.

The plugins can be installed directly from the website’s admin panel in step 2 by going to Plugins>Add new, or they can be downloaded first and then uploaded manually.

6. The Growth of Blogs

Header

Make sure you give each blog post its page by going to “pages” > “add new” > “give appropriate name to all pages” > “appearance” > “menu.” Create a new menu, give it a name, and check the boxes next to the page titles you wish to include before clicking Add to Menu and saving your changes to your WordPress blog.

Carousel

Select Dashboard> Carousel and enter your content. The carousel’s featured post can be selected at your discretion.

Widgets

Dashboard>appearance>widget. Dragging and dropping, you may easily add sliders and footers with the available widget.

Footer

To edit the footer at the bottom of each page, select Appearance > Customize.

Posts

To control which posts appear in the homepage slider, go to Dashboard > Posts > Add New, give your post a title, and start writing and publishing.

Pages

Go to your dashboard, select “Pages,” then “Add new,” then “Name,” and “Title” your page before publishing. You may also include this page in the navigation bar.

How to Monetize Your Blog (No. 7)

Bloggers monetize their sites by including Google advertising on them. Create a Google AdSense account and submit your website for approval to earn money from your blog as a passive revenue stream. Ads will begin showing up in your blog within a few hours of logging in, creating ad units, and inserting the code. Your blog may generate a few cents for every click, which you can track in your Google AdSense account.
